Built at the Sam Beauford Woodworking Institute, this upright cabinetmaker's chest was designed to house prized hand tools while putting fine joinery through its paces. The butternut carcass is joined with mitred through dovetails, framing warm, walnut drawer fronts.

The chest is enclosed by a tambour door crafted from sequentially numbered slats so the grain flows uninterrupted across the face. Inside, three walnut drawers with recessed finger pulls and contrasting bars sit beside shaped cubbies sized to perfectly fit hand planes. On the back is a traditional linenfold carving. A hidden detail to treat anyone who takes the time to explore the chest from all angles.
